Why habits die in week three

Almost nobody quits on day two. They quit somewhere around week three, and it's not a willpower failure — it's a structural one. Two curves cross there: excitement has faded and visible results haven't arrived.

In that gap you have no feeling of progress to run on — unless you've been recording the one thing that has undeniably been happening: you showed up. That's what the grid is. It's evidence that survives the week your motivation doesn't.
